It is a fact that we are going to age ... unless we don't.

It is a fact that we will age ... unless we don't. If you aren't aging, chances are you aren't reading so I'm not writing to you. But the rest of us are aging. And at differing rates, we are gaining wisdom and grandchildren, loosing debt, muscle mass, and hair. We are gaining funny stories and age spots, loosing elasticity and self-absorption. Aging is something we can fear or something we can embrace. I'm going to embrace it! I'm going to find humor in the funny parts and I'm going to work to work the inevitable to my advantage. I'm going to consider laugh lines my badge and bifocals my trophy. The topics I cover here are my tools to achieving the best life I can have with my over 45 self. Join me in Aging with Ambition.

Eating Better made Easier

One of the toughest things to do, but one of the most important if we want to stay healthy, is to eat right. We all have something we are (or should be) watching. Whether it is fat grams, calories, carbs (my personal demon), or any one of a miriad of edible entities, we all could use something to make it easier. I've discovered two such helpers.

Truth be told, I didn't really discover the first one. My family doctor told me about it. Take a second to check out http://www.myfitnesspal.com/. It's a community of folks working toward healthier lifestyles. You can enter you goals and keep up with everything you eat and all your excercise. The site lets you know how you are doing and it's free!

Then there are the absolute BEST cookbooks in the world! The Taste of Home Comfort Diet Food Cookbooks. They have pictures of nearly ever yummy recipe along with the nutritional value of each one including the counts of all those things we count. My family LOVES the "Flavorful Summer Squash," "Famous Green Beans," and "Chicken with Mushroom Sauce" among many many others.
